The Innovive System: A Simpler Way to Run a Vivarium

The Innovive Research-Ready IVC System eliminates the cage-washing workflow and replaces it with a simpler model: caging arrives ready to use, supports your animals through their study cycle, and leaves your facility through a closed-loop recycling program. Here is how each piece connects.

Why the Washroom No Longer Makes Sense

Traditional vivarium operations rely on washable caging. Cages come in, animals are housed, cages go out to the wash room, they are cleaned, sterilized, dried, and returned. That cycle repeats continuously, consuming water, detergent, energy, equipment, space, and staff time.
At high study volumes, the washroom becomes a bottleneck. The labor required is significant. The risk of contamination from incomplete cleaning is real. And the energy and water overhead is substantial, often representing a large portion of a facility’s operational cost.
The Innovive system replaces that cycle with a different model entirely.

The Research-Ready Workflow

01

Caging Ships Ready to Use

Research-Ready disposable cages arrive at your facility irradiated, double-bagged, and guaranteed to have never housed another rodent. They can go into immediate use or be stored until needed. Options include pre-bedded cages (corn cob, Alpha-dri, BioFresh), pre-enriched cages with Innorichment, and pre-filled Aquavive water bottles.

02

High-Performance IVC Racks

Innovive’s Innorack IVC systems provide dual HEPA-filtered ventilation with individual airflow to each cage. Single and double-sided configurations accommodate different facility layouts. Dynamic digital controllers allow precise management of airflow settings, including positive and negative pressure modes for different research requirements.

03

Animals Are Housed and Monitored

Caging is used through the study cycle under controlled IVC conditions. The system supports mouse, rat, and tall rat models across a range of research protocols, including gnotobiotic programs.

04

Used Caging Leaves for Recycling

When a cage cycle ends, used caging does not go to the wash. Cages are re-stacked with soiled bedding intact and sent to your facility’s recycling dock. The Innovive closed-loop recycling service, powered by InnoCycle, collects and processes 100% of returned plastic and composts used bedding. Zero landfill.
